Engineered Journals

Controversy (Part 2)

August, 2022

Some More Controversial Things I Believe:

  1. If you hear the phrase “Pencils Down” on a project, it’s usually not a good sign.
  2. Remote work doesn’t work. At least not when it counts.
  3. The best engineers thrive in chaos. The others freeze in chaos.
  4. In any group there will be a person that complains the most. That person is usually the least skilled.
  5. The best engineers are energized by problems. The others get bogged down in problems.
  6. Most engineers don’t understand the difference between accuracy and precision.
  7. Work life balance is mostly a distraction.
  8. The engineering design process is sometimes described as a “cookbook”. Like cooking, the Chef matters more than the book.
  9. This one’s a doozy. You’re always paid less than you’re worth. How else would the business be profitable.
