How to Evaluate Personal Performance
March, 2019
As I got better at my job, I developed my own way of working. You will develop your own ways to perform as well. Self assessment begins from a result orientation. By using a journal you will develop the habit of recording your expected results and how you performed in achieving them. Along with this record you can begin thinking about the following:
- What have I done well at so far?
- What might I be at good at in the future?
- Is there anything I need to learn to enhance my strengths?
In the beginning of your career this assessment will be difficult if you have not completed many assignments. However, this problem will quickly go away if you are within the right team. I found out that I was good at thinking in three dimensions. My high organizational acumen also meant I could track and recall multiple aspects of a complex process. These two skills came together in helping my teams to success on mega projects.
Action Item: Think, what have I done well? And, where can I do well in the future?
