My Case for Optimism
December, 2025
Engineering is all based on achieving success at some endeavour (project),
through mitigation of risk.
This approach is an excellent bias towards life based around optimism.
However, optimism is sometimes scoffed at or dismissed as being delusional
by some people and I really don't understand why. Maybe my own life outcomes
have so pushed me so far into optimism that I really see no other way to be.
I often tell the people around me not to worry because "Things always work out for Kyle."
Refering to myself in the third person may seem cocky, but if you were in my shoes,
you'd do the same.
But, objectively looking at my life I have no special advantages,
my achievements really are subpar on the scale of the world and I have
many failures which I choose to ignore and instead focus on my successes.
My hope is that more people could have this blind optimism.
Say to yourself things work our for you in the end, even though your
greatest effort does not guarantee success.
